seth cardinal dodginghorse: dirt song

February 18th 2024

2PM at Central Memorial park

“dirt song” is a new commissioned sound piece that seth will be performing outside. This work aims to create a welcoming and warming call and response between the artist and the land using electric guitars, pedals, traditional prairie chicken dance bells and movement.

New Works Calgary commissioned this piece in response to an invitation from our partner organization, Springboard Performance.  Springboard's Executive Director, Nicole Mion, posed the questions 'What is this land and what is its sound? How do we better listen to this land from an Indigenous perspective? How do we host and tour as we invite people on to this land?'.  seth's new work will be the first in a series of welcoming activities curated in connection with Springboard's presentation of 'The answer is land', a multidisciplinary touring show by Sámi choreographer Elle Sofe Sara (Norway).

We highly encourage you to attend The answer is land. Soundwalk registrants will be given 20% off show tickets.  Details about The answer is land can be found below.
